1. The Dua of Yunus

Dua:“la ilaha illa anta subhanaka inneekuntu mina aththalimeen”

Translation :- “There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.”
[Al-Quran Surah Al Anbya 21:87]

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “The supplication of my brother Dhun Nun – The Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) is also addressed by two other surnames “Dhun-Nun” (Lord of the Fish) and “Sahibil-Hot” (Companion of the Fish), who called on Allaah while in the whale’s belly: ‘There is no deity but You. Glory be to You! Verily, I have been among the wrongdoers’ (Al-Quran 21:87) – no Muslim person says it, for any situation whatsoever, except that Allaah Most High answers his call.” [Tirmidhi]

2. Dua of Nuh – During Political Situations

Rabbahu annee maghloobun fantasir

Translation :- “I have been overcome, so help (me)!”
[Al-Quran Surah Al-Qamar 54:10]

~Family political situation.
~Gaza, Palestine, Syria, Kashmir, Pakistan oppression.
~Make sure you put your faith in the dua and be positive that Allaah will answer it.
~Have Yaqeen and Tawakkul-this is going to happen! Dont say i dont know if this is going to work. If you are not committing any major sins it will work – bi’ithinillah.
~Possible and Impossible are the ideas of human brain. For Allaah everything and anything is possible.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), “The supplication of every one of you will be granted if he does not get impatient and say (for example): `I supplicated my Rabb but my prayer has not been granted‘.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

3. Dua of Muhammad and his companions when threatened by the impending attack of the enemy and Of Ibrahim when he was thrown in fire

HasbunaAllahu waniAAma alwakeel

Translation :- Sufficient for us is Allah , and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.
[Al-Quran Surah Ali’Imran 3:173]

~No person by himself is capable of fighting against the current of misfortune, nor can he fend off the blows of disaster when they strike. This is because man was created weak and fragile. However, when in times of difficulty, the believer places his dependancy and trust with his Lord; he knows that all difficulties can be overcome.’

~By leaving your affairs to Allaah, by depending upon Him, by trusting in His promise, by being pleased with His decree, by thinking favourably of Him, and by waiting patiently for His help, you reap some of the greater fruits of faith and display the more promonent characteristics of the believer. When you incorporate these qualities into your character, you will be at peace concerning the future, because you will depend on your Lord for everything. As a result, you will find care, help, protection, and victory.
~Use this dua when you are in some kind of stress.

[Sunan Tirmidhi]

Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum! Bi rahmatika astagheeth!

~ Call upon Allah by his names Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum.

7. Dua e Istikhara

Salat-l-Istikhara is described in the Hadith narration below.

Narrated Jabir bin ‘Abdullah: The Prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wasallam used to teach us the way of doing Istikhara (istikhara means to ask Allah to guide one to the right sort of action concerning any job or a deed), in all matters as he taught us the Surats of the Al-Quran. He said, “If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a two Rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer):

Istikhara Dua in English :-

‘Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi’ilmika, Wa astaqdiruka bi-qudratika, Wa as’alaka min fadlika al-‘azlm Fa-innaka taqdiru Wala aqdiru, Wa ta’lamu Wala a’lamu, Wa anta ‘allamu l-ghuyub. Allahumma, in kunta ta’lam anna hadha-l-amra Khairun li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa’aqibati amri (or ‘ajili amri wa’ajilihi) Faqdirhu wa yas-sirhu li thumma barik li Fihi, Wa in kunta ta’lamu anna hadha-lamra shar-run li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa’aqibati amri (or fi’ajili amri wa ajilihi) Fasrifhu anni was-rifni anhu. Waqdir li al-khaira haithu kana Thumma ardini bihi.’

Istikhara Dua Translation :-

(O Allah! I ask guidance from Your knowledge, And Power from Your Might and I ask for Your great blessings. You are capable and I am not. You know and I do not and You know the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this job is good for my religion and my subsistence and in my Hereafter–(or said: If it is better for my present and later needs)–Then You ordain it for me and make it easy for me to get, And then bless me in it, and if You know that this job is harmful to me In my religion and subsistence and in the Hereafter–(or said: If it is worse for my present and later needs)–Then keep it away from me and let me be away from it. And ordain for me whatever is good for me, And make me satisfied with it). The Prophet added that then the person should name (mention) his need.

Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 21 Hadith 263

* When making the dua, the actual matter or decision should be mentioned instead of the words “hathal-amra” (“this matter”).

*What needs to be noted is that the answer to one’s istikhara prayer does not come simply in the form of dreams and feelings but in how Allah facilitates and unfolds events for an individual after he or she genuinely strives to do what is best.

*Lastly, one needs to be patient in terms of receiving the answer to their prayers. Remember the words of our Prophet Muhammad (salallahu alaihi wasallam), “The supplication of everyone is granted as long as he does not show haste and does not say that he made a supplication but it was not accepted.”
[Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah]
