Why are there so many sects among Muslims?

When all the Muslim follow one and the same Qur’an then why are there so many sects and different schools of thoughts among Muslims?

WHY ARE MUSLIMS DIVIDED INTO SECTS (DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT) Sects of Islam

1. Muslims should be united

It is a fact that Muslims today, are divided amongst themselves. The tragedy is that such divisions are not endorsed by Islam at all. Islam believes in fostering unity amongst its followers.

The Glorious Qur’an says:

sects of islam

“And hold fast,

All together, by the rope

Which Allah (stretches out for you),

and be not divided among yourselves;”

[Al-Qur’an 3:103]

Which is the rope of Allah that is being referred to in this verse? It is the Glorious Qur’an. The Glorious Qur’an is the rope of Allah which all Muslims should hold fast together. There is double emphasis in this verse. Besides saying ‘hold fast all together’ it also says, ‘be not divided’.

Qur’an further says,

“Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger”

[Al-Qur’an 4:59]

All the Muslim should follow the Qur’an and authentic Ahadith and be not divided among themselves.

2. It is prohibited to make sects and divisions in Islam (Sects of Islam)

The Glorious Qur’an says:

“As for those who divide
Their religion and break up
Into sects, thou hast
No part in them in the least:
Their affair is with Allah:
He will in the end
Tell them the truth
Of all that they did.”

[Al-Qur’an 6:159]

In this verse Allah (swt) says that one should disassociate oneself from those who divide their religion and break it up into sects.

But when one asks a Muslim, “who are you?”, the common answer is either ‘I am a Sunni, or ‘I am a Shia’. Some call themselves Hanafi, or Shafi or Maliki or Humbali. Some say ‘I am a Deobandi’, while some others say ‘I am a Barelvi’.

3. Our Prophet was a Muslim (Sects of Islam)

One may ask such Muslims, “Who was our beloved prophet (pbuh)? Was he a Hanafi or a Shafi, or a Humbali or a Maliki?” No! He was a Muslim, like all the other prophets and messengers of Allah before him.

It is mentioned in chapter 3 verse 52 of Al-Qur’an that Jesus (pbuh) was a Muslim.

Further, in chapter 3 verse 67, Al-Qur’an says that Ibrahim (pbuh) was not a Jew or a Christian but was a Muslim.

4. Qur’an says call yourselves Muslim

a. If anyone poses a Muslim the question who are you, he should say “I am a MUSLIM, not a Hanafi or a Shafi”.

Surah Fussilat chapter 41 verse 33 says:

sects of islam
Sects of Islam

“Who is better in speech

Than one who calls (men)

To Allah, works righteousness,

And says, ‘I am of those

Who bow in Islam (Muslim)?’ “

[Al-Qur’an 41:33]

The Qur’an says “Say I am of those who bow in Islam“. In other words, say, “I am a Muslim”.

b. The Prophet (pbuh) dictated letters to non-Muslim kings and rulers inviting them to accept Islam. In these letters he mentioned the verse of the Qur’an from Surah Ali Imran chapter 3 verse 64:

Say ye: “Bear witness

That we (at least)

Are Muslims (bowing

To Allah’s Will).”

[Al-Qur’an 3:64]

5. Respect all the Great Scholars of Islam

We must respect all the great scholars of Islam, including the four Imaams, Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Shafi, Imam Humbal and Imam Malik (may Allah be pleased with them all). They were great scholars and may Allah reward them for their research and hardwork. One can have no objection if someone agrees with the views and research of Imam Abu Hanifa or Imam Shafi, etc. But when posed a question, ‘who are you?’, the reply should only be ‘I am a Muslim’.

Some may argue by quoting the hadith of our beloved Prophet from Sunan Abu Dawood Hadith No. 4579. In this hadith the prophet (pbuh) is reported to have said, “My community will be split up into seventy-three sects.”

This hadith reports that the prophet predicted the emergence of seventy-three sects.

Sects of Islam

He did not say that Muslims should be active in dividing themselves into sects. The Glorious Qur’an commands us not to create sects. Those who follow the teachings of the Qur’an and Sahih Hadith, and do not create sects are the people who are on the true path.

According to Tirmidhi Hadith No. 171, the prophet (pbuh) is reported to have said, “My Ummah will be fragmented into seventy-three sects, and all of them will be in Hell fire except one sect.” The companions asked Allah’s messenger which group that would be. Where upon he replied, “It is the one to which I and my companions belong.”

The Glorious Qur’an mentions in several verses, “Obey Allah and obey His Messenger”.

A true Muslim should only follow the Glorious Qur’an and the Sahih Hadith. He can agree with the views of any scholar as long as they conform to the teachings of the Qur’an and Sahih Hadith. If such views go against the Word of Allah, or the Sunnah of His Prophet, then they carry no weight, regardless of how learned the scholar might be.

If only all Muslims read the Qur’an with understanding and adhere to Sahih Hadith, Inshallah most of these differences would be solved and we could be one united Muslim Ummah.

Why are Muslims so worried about Al Aqsa?

Why is Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem so important to Muslims?

Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem (palestine) is the third Holiest site on the face of this planet for Muslims. It’s sanctity is so important in Islam that it is in fact mentioned by name in the Quran.

We have compiled a short list as to what makes this site so important for Muslims around the world.

Masjid Al-Aqsa | Jerusalem | Palestine :

1. It is the third Holiest site after the two Holy Sanctuaries in Makkah and Madinah.

2. It was the second house of prayer established on earth, built 40 years after the Kaaba in Mecca.

Jerusalem-Palestine-Masjid Al-Aqsa
Jerusalem-Palestine-Masjid Al-Aqsa

I asked the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which was the first mosque on earth? ‘The Sacred Mosque (in Makkah),’ he said. And then which, I asked? ‘Masjid al Aqsa,’ he said. I further asked, what was the time span between the two? ‘Forty years,’ the Prophet [Alayhis salaam] replied. (Muslim)

3. It was the first Qibla (direction of prayer) in Islam. Muslims were commanded by God to turn in direction to this mosque in Jerusalem for prayer before the Kaabah in Mecca was declared as the Qiblah.

We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do. (2:144)

4. The Prophet Muhammad explicitly advised Muslims to visit this mosque and offer prayer in it.

“Set out deliberately on a journey only to three mosques: this mosque of mine (in Medina), the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) and the Masjid Al Aqsa (in Jerusalem)”

(Bukhari & Muslim)

5. Prayer in Masjid Al Aqsa will generate great blessings and worshippers will receive 500x the reward of prayer performed in any other location.

Anas Ibn Malik (ra) relates that the Prophet (pbuh) said:

Al-Aqsa-Jerusalem-Palestine
Al-Aqsa-Jerusalem-Palestine

” The prayer of a person in his house is a single prayer; his prayer in the Masjid of his people has the reward of 27 prayers; his prayer in the Masjid in which the Friday prayer is observed has the reward of 500; his prayer in Masjid Al-Aqsa (i.e. Al-Aqsa Sanctuary) has a reward of 5,000 prayers; his prayer in my Masjid (the Prophet’s Masjid in Madinah) has a reward of 50,000 prayers, and the prayer in the Sacred Masjid (Ka’bah) has the reward of 100,000 prayers”.

(Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)

6. It is the location that the Prophet was transported to during the miraculous Night Journey (Israa wa-Miraaj). Muslims believe Prophet Muhammad was transported from the sacred mosque in Mecca to the Masjid Al Aqsa during this miraculous night journey and then onto heaven.

The Fat Decimator System

“Glorified be He [Allah] Who did take His servant for a journey by night from Al Masjid Al Haram to Al Masjid Al Aqsa, whose precincts We did bless, in order that We might show him some of our Signs. Verily He is the All Hearing, All Seeing.” Surah Isra (17:1)

7. It was the location for the most extraordinary gathering in which the Prophet Muhammad led prayer in congregation with all previous prophets and then ascended to the heavens to receive Gods command to the Muslims to pray 5 times a day.

8. Muslims believe that the land of Jeruselem is the final resting place of many previous prophets and their companions including Prophet Ibrahim, Yaaqub and Ishaq and some close companions of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE | ISLAM | CONSEQUENCES

In the name of Allah, most compassionate and most merciful.

SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES :-
“From among the signs of the Hour (end of time) are that religious knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious scholars), ignorance will prevail, drinking of alcoholic drinks, and there will be a prevalence of Zina.” – Prophet (saw) We begin our topic with these words of our beloved Prophet.

Sex before Marriage
Sex before Marriage

How true were his words? We live in a world where all these things are prevalent and unfortunately in our Muslim community as well. Many of our Muslim brothers and sisters are trapped in the evil of Zina and it has become a norm for them, as a result they don’t even consider it haram and unlawful.

Allah says in holy Quran: Sūrah al-Isrā’, 17:32:
“And do not even approach zina, for it is an outrageous act, and an evil way…’’

We are not going into detail about why Zina is unlawful but in this article, you will find the consequences of this sin. How this affects a life of a person physically, mentally, spiritually and socially.

Imaam Ibn Al-Qayyim said,
“Fornication and adultery combine all evils; weakness in commitment to the religion, lack of piety, corruption of manhood and the decrease of praiseworthy jealousy. You will never find an adulterer or fornicator who is pious, fulfills his promises, is truthful in his speech, maintains a friendship or has jealousy over his wife; he will be characterized by lies, deception, betrayal, accepting prohibitions and not being mindful of Allah.”

All these characteristics are consequences of fornication and adultery.

1. Incurring the wrath of Allah The Almighty.

Naturally, Allah has ordered us in holy Quran to stay away from it and one who doesn’t will be punished.

2. Poverty and gloominess of the face, which will be apparent topeople.

A fornicator will have no Noor on his face. He will face hardships in this life and hereafter if he doesn’t repent. He will be in constant anxiety and his gloominess and sadness will be apparent from his face.

3. Becoming Insignificant.

Sex before Marriage
Sex before Marriage

A person becomes insignificant in the eyes of Allah and in the eyes of people as well. Allah will degrade his situation to worse. It can lead to murder.

Yes, illegal and illicit relations often lead to unwanted pregnancies and therefore abortions. An abortion is a crime and a sin. It is a murder of a soul that has no fault in the sins of a person.

4. Divorce rates are increased.

When a person is in the deep sin of Zina, he/she doesn’t derive pleasure in Halaal relation with his spouse and hence the rates of divorce are increased.

5. It steals Barakah from your earnings.

With Zina, a person spends on unlawful things and contributes to facilitating the activities of Zina. As such the blessings of Allah are removed from his earnings.

6. Worldly Punishment according to shariah.

Sex before marriage is Zina
Sex before marriage, STOP!

Allah The Almighty commanded His Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) to take a pledge from women who entered Islam to refrain from fornication and adultery. Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {“O Prophet! When believing women come to you to give you the Bai`ah (pledge), that they will not associate anything in worship with Allah, that they will not steal, that they will not commit illegal sexual intercourse, that they will not kill their children… then accept their pledge.”} [Quran, 60: 12]

Allah The Almighty made the punishment for these sins vary from lashing to stoning to death, along with the humiliation which results from informing the community of the perpetrators of this sin. Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {“The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day.

And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. [This is for unmarried persons, but if married, the punishment is to stone them to death].”} [Quran, 24: 2]

The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention) set the penalty for adultery and fornication as follows: “If the parties (committing fornication) are unmarried, they should receive a hundred lashes and be put into exile for a year. If they commit adultery after they are married, they should receive a hundred lashes and then be stoned to death.” [Muslim]

7. Punishment of Grave.

Those who commit Zina are severely punished in their grave as well. In a very long hadith, Allah’s Messenger relates a dream in which he saw how a number of sinners are being punished in the intermediate life of al-Barzakh (life in the grave). Samurah bin Jundub reported that one morning Allah’s Messenger said: “Last night two men came to me (in a dream) and said, “Come with us.”

Sex before marriage leads to Hell Fire.
Sex before marriage leads to Hell Fire.

I went with them to a sacred land … We proceeded until we came upon a hole in the ground that resembled a baking pit, narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. Babbling and voices were issuing from it. We looked in and saw naked men and women. Ünderneath the pit was a raging fire; whenever it flared up, they screamed and rose with it until they almost fell out of the pit.

As it subsided, they returned (to the bottom). I said, “Who are these?” They said, “Come along!” … I said, “Since the beginning of this night, you have taken me to different places, and I have seen amazing things! What is all this that I saw?” They said, “We will now tell you … As for the naked men and women who were in the pit, they are men and women who indulge in zina … And I am Jibreel, and this is Meka’eel…”

May Allah Protect us.

Shirk Among Muslims

Types Of Shirk Among Muslims

It’s a common understanding among the Muslims that shirk is only done by non-Muslims. But No! It is not so. Shirk is also prevalent among Muslims. Below mentioned and explained are some of the common types of it which we find among Muslims.

Shirk
Shirk
  • (i) Going to the grave and calling upon the dead.
  • (ii) Wearing of Talisman (Taweez)
  • (iii) Democracy
  • (iv) Fatwa Shopping
  • (v) Palmistry and Fortune telling
  • (vi) Asking someone to intercede with Allah (SWT)
  • (vii) Riya Showing off
  • (viii) Excessive love of someone or something
  • (ix) Worship of Money
  • (x) Making your own nafs as a god (Worshipping your passions)

(i) Going to the grave and calling upon the dead.

Shirk
Shirk

Many people who profess to be Muslims, go to the Dargah and call upon a dead person in the grave and they think that by doing so they will have their needs fulfilled. What is the difference between that and worshipping an idol? It is one and the same thing!!

“But you cannot make those to hear who are (buried) in graves.” (Quran 35:22)

(ii) Wearing of Talisman (Taweez)

Shirk
Shirk

Wearing of amulets, talisman (taweez) etc. is also shirk Since you attribute it the power to protect you.

Isa ibn Hamza said: I went to see Abdullah ibn Hakim and his face was red due to high fever. I said to him: ‘Why don’t you use an amulet?’ He said: ‘We seek refuge with Allah from it. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “Whoever wears anything as an amulet will be entrusted to it”. (Narrated by Abu Daw’ud)

(iii) Democracy

Democracy means “rule of the people”. It is people who decide what is lawful and what is unlawful. What is halal (lawful) and what is haraam (unlawful). The sovereignty belongs to people and NOT to Allah. When we demand democracy, we deny that Allah is Al-Hakim (The judge) and we deny that Allah is Al-Hakeem (The most wise).

(iv) Fatwa Shopping

Some Muslims hunt for a fatwa which suits their perverted beliefs, and when they get it, they rely upon it and continue doing what they are doing even though its ruling is crystal clear in the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). Some examples of Fatwa shopping are:

Riba: Though majority of scholars agree that bank interest is prohibited in Islam and its very clear from the Quran and the Sunnah. Yet certain Muftis have given fatwas that it is permissible for Muslims living in the west to deal in interest.

Muslims normally hunt for such fatwas and continue dealing in riba even though its prohibition is crystal clear in the Quran

Hijaab: When France enforced the ban on hijaab, certain Muftis went on to say that its not compulsory for Muslim women in the west to wear hijaab! Many Muslims hunt for such fatwas and start following such Muftis, even though its commandment is in black & white in the Quran.

So Dear Muslims follow what Allah and his Messenger (SAW) say and stop hunting for fatwas to suit your perverted beliefs.

(v) Palmistry and Fortune telling

shirk
Shirk

All sorts of fortune telling including palmistry and horoscopes are prohibited in Islam. Only Allah (SWT) knows the future and only he has the knowledge of the unseen. It is shirk because you attribute one of the qualities of Allah to human beings who do not have the knowledge of the unseen.

(vi) Asking someone to intercede with Allah (SWT)

Some Muslims ask Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and also other saintly people to intercede with Allah. It is no doubt a shirk .It is prohibited to ask someone to intercede with Allah. He commands us to pray and supplicate to him directly. But certain people still intercede with Allah. Many Shia Muslims ask Hazrat Ali to intercede with Allah which is shirk .

“And your Lord says: “Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell – in humiliation!”

(vii) Riya Showing off

Riya (Showing off) is that you do your deeds to show off to people and not to appease Allah.

Prophet (SAW) said: ‘The thing that I fear for you the most is minor shirk’. The companions asked: ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, what is minor shirk?’ He replied: ‘Showing off (ar-riya), for verily Allah will say on the day of resurrection when people are receiving their rewards, ‘Go to those whom you were showing off too in the world and see if you can find any reward from them”.

(viii) Excessive love of someone or something

Many Muslims beat themselves to commemorate someone who has passed away. They get dissatisfied with the will of Allah. Loving someone or something more than Allah (SWT) is also shirk.

“But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah.” (Quran)
The love for Allah is being obedient to him and his messenger (pbuh).

(ix) Worship of Money

shirk

Meaning halal or haram, the person doesn’t care, he just want to have it.

The Prophet pbuh said, “Let the slave of Dinar and Dirham of Quantify and Khamisa (i.e. money and luxurious clothes) perish (destroy) for he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased (and he doesnt care if its halal or haram).”

(x) Making your own nafs as a god (Worshipping your passions)

shirk

A Muslim is the one who submits his will to Allah. If you submit to anyone else other than Allah, you have taken that thing or that person as a god other than Allah. It even includes your nafs. If you submit to your nafs and do whatever you want to do regardless of what Allah commands, then you have made it your god.

Allah says in Quran: “Did you see the one who took his own wishes and whims as his god?”
—————————————————————————-

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 51:
Say: “Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our Protector”; and on Allah let the believers put their trust.

Conclusion:

Most of us including me would think that the above means that every little thing we do is shirk, and will allah forgive us or not etc?

The kinds that are mentioned above are true as references of the above are available in Quran & Sunnah but keep this in mind that if we do any of the above shirks mistakenly than it will be considered as a sin and one can repent for it. But if they become your habit & you do it again & again & even after knowing that its shirk than even one of the above committed can destroy all the good deeds.

May Allah Protect Us & Have Mercy On Us. Ameen

“Success Comes From ALLAH, And ALLAH Knows Best”

Q. Can you give us an idea about the Dajjaal (Anti-Christ), Al-Daabbah (The Beast) and Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj (Gog and Magog)?

Praise be to Allaah.
There follows a brief description from the Qur’aan and Saheeh Sunnah narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about these three major signs that will precede the Hour and will come at the end of time just before the Day of Resurrection.

The Dajjaal (Anti Christ) – a man created by Allaah, who will appear at the end of time because of something that makes Allaah angry. He will spread corruption on earth and will claim divinity, calling on people to worship him.

They will be tested by the extraordinary powers that Allaah will grant him, such as causing rain to fall, reviving the earth with vegetation and extracting the treasures of the earth.

He will be a young man with a ruddy complexion, short of stature, with curly hair. He will be one-eyed; his right eye will be flat and his other eye will have a thick piece of flesh over it.

Written between his eyes will be the word “Kaafir” (disbeliever). Most of those who follow him will be Jews. He will meet his end at the hands of ‘Eesa ibn Maryam (Jesus the son of Mary) who will kill him with a spear in Lod, which is in Palestine.

Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj (God And Magog) – two disbelieving tribes from among the sons of Adam. They have wide faces and small eyes. They used to spread mischief on earth, so Allaah gave Dhoo’l-Qarnayn the power to build a barrier to detain them.

They will keep on digging at it until Allaah gives them permission to come out at the end of time, after ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) has killed the Dajjaal. They will emerge in huge numbers and will drink up the lake of Tiberias (in Palestine).

They will spread mischief on earth and no one will be able to resist them. ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) and the believers with him will take refuge in Mount Toor until Allaah destroys Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj by sending worms that will eat their necks. Then Allaah will send rain to wash away their bodies into the sea and cleanse the earth of their stench.

Al-Daabah (The Beast) – a great creature which Allaah will cause to emerge when the people become corrupt. It will speak to mankind and exhort them, having the ability to reason and speak.

It will make marks on the people’s noses which will distinguish the believers from the disbelievers.

The responsibility of the Muslims is to believe in what was narrated from Allaah and His Messenger. How many wondrous and strange things has Allaah created in this world, which speak of His might and power, may He be glorified and exalted.
